State’s leading health plan activating dedicated team to assist affected members

BOSTON – July 26, 2024 – In response to today's announcement from Steward Health Care that it intends to close both Carney Hospital and Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (“Blue Cross”) released the following statement:

“Our highest priority is to ensure that our members who receive their care at one of these hospitals continue to have timely access to the care they need, when they need it.

“We are closely monitoring developments and have prepared contingency plans to provide effective support for our members as it’s needed.

“We’ve activated a dedicated team of member service representatives to assist members with questions specific to these closures and we encourage any member with concerns to call the number on their ID card or contact us via their online member account.”
