BOSTON — November 8, 2011 — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) today announced that Stephanie Lovell will join the company as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, effective December 14, 2011.
Lovell joins BCBSMA after more than four years at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where she has served as Senior Vice President of Administration and General Counsel. At BMC, Lovell was responsible for legal affairs, strategic planning, compliance, human resources, and facilities.
Prior to BMC, Lovell served in the Office of the Attorney General for more than six years, including three years as First Assistant Attorney General and three years as the Government Bureau Chief.
"Stephanie's extensive experience in both the public and private sectors makes her uniquely qualified for this important role," said Andrew Dreyfus, BCBSMA's President and CEO. "I'm excited to join such an innovative and forward-thinking company as BCBSMA at such a critical time in health care," said Lovell. "I look forward to putting my experience in health care and government to work for Andrew and the BCBSMA team."
Earlier in her career, Lovell served as the Executive Director of the State Ethics Commission, and prior to that as Assistant General Counsel for Litigation for the Boston School Committee.
