Dorothy E. Puhy was elected to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Board in 2012 and was elected Vice Chair in 2017. As a Director, Ms. Puhy helps set the company’s strategy and overall direction. Within a highly competitive and highly regulated business environment, the Board oversees and governs BCBSMA's operations, which includes the provision of health coverage to individuals and public and private employers. Ms. Puhy is Chair of the Board’s Audit Committee and Vice Chair of the Finance and Business Performance Committee.
Ms. Puhy is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Previously, Ms. Puhy served as the Chief Financial Officer of Dana-Farber since 1994 and has served as its Assistant Treasurer since 1995. She also serves as Chief Administrative and Financial Officer for Dana‑Farber/Partners CancerCare, Inc., and is a former lecturer at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Ms. Puhy is Chair of the Board and Executive Committee of MASCO (Medical Academic and Scientific Community Organization, Inc.) and on the Board of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. She is a Director, Chair of the Financial Review Committee, member of the Audit, Governance and Investment Committees at CRICO (Controlled Risk Insurance Company), the Harvard medical malpractice captive. Ms. Puhy is Lead Director and Chair of the Audit Committee at Abiomed Inc. and; at Eaton Vance Corp., she is a Director, Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committees and member of its Audit Committee.
Ms. Puhy earned her Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
