Jay has executive responsibility for the company’s Internal Communications, Public Relations, Public Affairs and Corporate Citizenship functions. He also serves as the company’s chief public spokesperson and works directly with CEO Andrew Dreyfus on specific strategic communication initiatives. He also serves as an Executive Sponsor of the company’s AZULatino employee resource group.
Prior to joining the company in 2005, Jay worked as a broadcast journalist for nearly twenty years, most recently as an anchor and reporter for WBZ Radio and Television in Boston. Jay's reporting honors include the national Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in broadcast journalism and awards for his coverage of the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire presidential primary.
Jay is active on several community-based not-for-profit boards, including the Paul H. Sullivan Leadership Institute at Middlesex Community College, Playworks Massachusetts, and A Better City (ABC).
Jay graduated with honors from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with a dual major in English and Political Science.
